Jared provides sound legal advice and representation for criminal defendants that emphasizes their unique legal issue. By developing holistic solutions to each individual’s personal situation he achieves the best outcome for his clients. Prior to starting his own practice, Jared worked under acclaimed criminal defense attorney and former manager at the San Francisco Office of the Public Defender, Marla Zamora, and with the San Francisco Office of the Public Defender’s felony unit. He also has represented the residents of San Francisco’s Tenderloin at the Community Justice Center, a collaborative court emphasizing restorative justice and connecting clients to substance-abuse treatment and harm reduction classes. After Jared’s term at the Community Justice Center, the presiding judge, a former prosecutor, said:
I have been an attorney for eighteen years and I’ve been a judge for four months – Jared has the “it” factor. He is squared away, and he has done more good for his clients in the months that I’ve been working with him than anyone I know.
Jared was trained at George Washington University Law School, in Washington, D.C., and worked with the Baltimore Office of the Public Defender’s felony unit and the Northwest Defenders, which brought indigent criminal defense, holistic legal services, and a garden to Baltimore’s Park Heights community. Prior to law school, Jared worked under MacArthur Genius Grant recipient Will Allen at Growing Power in Milwaukee, and also managed a farm in Central Wisconsin.
In addition to his work as an attorney, Jared is the Executive Director of the Prisoner Reentry Network, a non-profit dedicated to promoting successful transitions from incarceration to the community.
